Role Description

The Fire Inspections Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area. This position is responsible for performing scheduled inspections and testing of fire sprinklers, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and fire suppression systems in accordance with applicable codes and company standards. Daily tasks include documenting inspection results, identifying deficiencies, performing basic troubleshooting, and communicating findings and recommendations to supervisors and clients.

The technician may assist with minor service work, support emergency response activities, and coordinate with installation and service teams to ensure systems remain fully operational and compliant. The role requires accurate recordkeeping, safe work practices, and professional interaction with customers and colleagues.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of fire protection equipment, including fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems, and the ability to inspect, test, and document their condition.
  • Understanding of fire safety and life safety principles, including relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA) applicable to fire protection systems.
  • Troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving basic issues with fire alarms, sprinklers, and related system components.
  • Prior experience in fire protection, building systems, or a related technical field is beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, inspection reports, and system schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills for handling multiple inspections and service tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, team members, and management.
  • Comfort working on-site in various facility types, including the ability to use ladders, tools, and test equipment safely.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses in fire protection or life safety (or willingness to obtain them) are a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for travel within the Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area.
