Keep Austin Moving as a Traffic Signal Systems Field Technician Picture this: sunrise over Austin, Texas. You meet the crew, review the day’s intersection layouts, and head out in a bucket truck to bring a new signalized intersection online. By afternoon you’ve wired cabinets, oriented signal heads for perfect visibility, and verified detection is firing exactly as designed—all while keeping your team and the traveling public safe.

What You'll Do Interpret engineered plans, intersection layouts, riser diagrams, and overhead signal drawings before installation begins.

Install and terminate traffic signal heads, pedestrian push buttons, and various detection devices to match project specifications.

Pull, route, and splice overhead and underground conductors through conduit, following color codes and proper terminations.

Assemble and set poles, mast arms, and brackets, applying correct hardware, torque values, and rigging methods.

Configure and integrate detection systems, controllers, cabinets, and battery backup units for uninterrupted operations.

Operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts to position signals precisely for orientation and visibility.

Use multimeters and diagnostic tools to conduct voltage, continuity, and signal testing.

Comply with MUTCD, OSHA, and company safety rules for aerial work, electrical safety, and traffic control.

Keep cabinet, pole, and junction box wiring orderly, labeled, and accessible.

Support staging, inventory, and loading/unloading of poles, arms, cabinets, and related materials.

Document installations, inspections, and adjustments in logs or digital platforms.

Immediately escalate layout variances, materials needs, or safety hazards to the Foreman or Leadman.

Provide traffic control and flagging as needed to protect crews, equipment, and motorists.

Pitch in on other tasks as assigned to help the team deliver safely and on time.

What You Bring1–5 years in traffic signal installation, electrical work, or related construction trades.

Ability to read construction drawings, electrical schematics, and riser diagrams.

Familiarity with MUTCD, OSHA, and TxDOT traffic signal standards (preferred).Comfort operating bucket trucks and aerial lifts; basic rigging experience.

Hands-on with hand/power tools and electrical test equipment.

Detail-oriented; steady working om promising commitment to PPE, aerial safety, and electrical hazard prevention.

Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record for operating company vehicles.

Sign-On Bonus Join us and qualify for a $1,000 sign-on bonus. The bonus is subject to applicable taxes and with holdings. Physical Demands & Work Environment Outdoor work year-round in heat, cold, rain, and other challenging conditions. Standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods is routine. Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; occasionally up to 100 lbs. with assistance when handling poles, mast arms, equipment, and materials. Expect exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and work at heights using bucket trucks or aerial lifts.
