Build Safer Streets: ITS Field Installer — Traffic Control Devices (Austin, TX)
Are you the person who won’t leave a cabinet until the wiring is pristine and every test passes? Join our Austin team to install and commission the systems that keep intersections safe and traffic moving—signals, pedestrian push buttons, detection, and more. You’ll combine craftsmanship, safety, and problem-solving in the field every day.

Your Impact Turn engineered designs into working intersections by reading plans, schematics, and riser diagrams.

Install and connect signal heads, pedestrian interfaces, and detection hardware precisely to spec.

Pull, route, and splice cables in conduit—both overhead and underground—maintaining proper color codes and terminations.

Set poles, mast arms, and brackets using correct fasteners, torque values, and rigging practices.

Deploy, configure, and verify detection systems, controllers, cabinets, and battery backups for continuous operation.

Use bucket trucks and aerial lifts to set signal orientation and ensure visibility from every approach.

Validate performance with voltage, continuity, and signal tests using multimeters and other diagnostic tools.

Work to MUTCD, OSHA, and company safety standards for aerial operations, electrical work, and traffic control.

Maintain neat, labeled wiring inside cabinets, junction boxes, and poles.

Support staging, inventory, and the safe loading/unloading of poles, arms, and cabinets.

Log installs, inspections, and adjustments in project records or digital apps.

Flag layout issues, material gaps, or safety hazards to the Foreman/Leadman immediately.

Execute traffic control and flagging to safeguard crews, equipment, and road users.

Contribute to additional team tasks as assigned.

What Sets You Up for Success1–5 years in signal installation, electrical, or related construction trades.

Confident reading construction drawings, electrical schematics, and riser diagrams.

Knowledge of MUTCD, OSHA, and TxDOT standards is a plus.

Experience with bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and basic rigging.

Comfortable with hand/power tools and electrical testing gear.

Meticulous detail orientation; at ease working ety-first mindset: PPE, aerial safety, and electrical hazard prevention are non-negotiable.

Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record to operate company vehicles.

Physical Realities of the Job Expect outdoor work in all seasons—heat, cold, rain, and harsh weather. You’ll frequently stand, climb, bend, and kneel for long stretches. Routine lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs. with help when moving poles, mast arms, equipment, and materials. You’ll encounter dust, noise, and vibration and regularly work at height from bucket trucks or aerial lifts.
