Overview
SAFE Alliance seeks a Counselor (Bilingual) for the Community & Housing Services Program in the Counseling Services department. The Counselor provides survivor-centered and trauma-informed clinical assessment, crisis intervention and ongoing counseling for adults, children, families, and groups in-person at SAFE campuses and through telehealth. The Counselor provides referrals for community resources, mental health services and follow-up counseling, and linkage with advocacy needs where indicated for survivors.

We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse.
In the past two years ), our community outreach and education has provided over 12,000 adults and youth violence prevention training. The number of forensic exams provided at Eloise House numbered over 300. Our various housing and shelter programs provided over 700 survivors per day with safe housing and shelter. Over 120 survivors fleeing sex trafficking received services through our CARES program and over 27,000 callers/chats/texts, walk-in advocacy, crisis intervention and face-to-face emotional support has been provided through our 24/7 confidential SAFEline.

We are looking for one person to work on a full-time, exempt basis for an annual salary of $60,420 - 63,600 dependent upon experience and an additional annual language differential of $3,600 for those who are English/Spanish bilingual. The work location will be based at our Grove Blvd. Campus in the East Austin area. This position will include some travel in the community or between campuses with some ability for remote/hybrid work.

- A Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
- A current clinical license in the state of Texas (LMSW, LCSW, LPC-Associate, LPC, LMFT-Associate, or LMFT).
- Bilingual (fluent Spanish and English) required.
- Experience working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence preferred.
- Possess a strong understanding of assessment tools, trauma informed treatment planning, and group dynamics.
- Possess a strong understanding of the dynamics of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and/or human trafficking.
- Experience with crisis-intervention.
- Experience in working with varied ethnic groups and demonstrated cultural competence.
- Commitment to diversity.
- Able to respond appropriately to cultural differences present among the organization's service population and staff. Sensitive to various ethnic and social backgrounds, beliefs, and values.
- Knowledge of human development, family systems and appropriate therapeutic modalities for adult and child survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
- This position requires consistent use of Spanish, therefore the person filling the position is required to be bilingual in Spanish and English.
