SAFE Alliance seeks a Family Shelter Advocate for the Residential & Support Services program in the Family & Community Shelter department. The Advocate provides crisis support to families and individuals as needed ensuring the advocate adheres to situational adaptability while valuing differences in client interactions and needs. They will focus on instilling trust in survivors while addressing safety planning, immediate health and basic needs.

The advocate should be organizationally savvy and staying abreast of application processes, enrollment procedures, and any new information about frequently used social services to benefit the clients they serve.

We are looking for one person to work on a full-time, non-exempt basis for an annual salary of $47,684 to $52,900 dependent upon experience and an additional annual language differential of $3,600 for those who are English/Spanish bilingual. The work location will be based at Grove Blvd. Campus in the East Austin area. This position will include some travel in the community or between campuses with no ability for remote/hybrid work.

Required Qualifications
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, or related field; equivalent years of professional-level relevant experience is acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two years' experience in human services is preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish is preferred; fluency being the ability to clearly and accurately communicate to convey information using the Spanish language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of issues and systems related to domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, child abuse and homelessness.
  • Work takes place at the Family Shelter, the workoffice is located where those served reside. You must have the ability to be sensitive to various ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Transporting clients to file for protective orders attend court hearings, or other appointments might occur.
  • Possible lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to learn quickly and multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office and have basic computer skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • This position requires driving. You must have a valid, State of Texas Driver's License (If in possession of an out-of-state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver's License within 90 days of beginning employment.) AND at least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age AND an acceptable driving record that covers at least the last three years of driver history.
  • This position requires completion of the 40-Hour Office of Attorney General Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program in person within six (6) months of starting employment, along with participating in annual continuing education throughout your employment.
