Family Shelter Advocate (Grove Campus)

Four Family Shelter Advocates required for the Residential & Support Services program, providing crisis support to families and individuals, establishing trust, addressing safety planning, health and basic needs.

Position Details

Full‑time, non‑exempt position. Annual salary $51,000–$53,000, plus $3,600 for English/Spanish bilingual.

Location:

Grove Blvd. Campus, East Austin. Some travel between campuses; no remote or hybrid work allowed.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two years of human services experience preferred.
  • English/Spanish bilingual fluency highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, child abuse, and homelessness issues.
  • Ability to work in the Family Shelter office where clients reside; sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Transporting clients to protective orders, court hearings, or appointments may occur.
  • Possible lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Strong multitasking, prioritization, and adaptability.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with at least three consecutive years of driving experience, or one year if over 27, and an acceptable driving record.
  • Completion of the 40‑Hour Office of Attorney General Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program within six months of start, with annual continuing education.
  • Pass required criminal background check (including FBI fingerprint if applicable), pre‑employment drug screen and TB test.
  • Compliance with COVID‑19 policies; vaccination encouraged where possible.
