Social Work Supervisor

Overview

Social Worker IV (Social Work Supervisor) at the Health & Human Services Commission, Motor Pool, Austin State Hospital. This is a part-time LCSW-S Clinical Supervisor role with a focus on providing therapy to inpatient clients with complex needs and providing board-approved clinical supervision for LMSW staff. The position is not eligible for telework and may require flexible hours including potential overtime or extended shifts.

• Provide advanced clinical services to persons served and supervise Social Workers; participate on the Social Work Management Team.
• Oversee the social work program; ensure social work policies and procedures are updated at least annually; participate in budget planning and program development.
• Review social assessments, recovery and discharge plans to address psychosocial, economic, and physical needs; coordinate with the treatment team.
• Provide clinical and administrative supervision, including hiring, workload scheduling, performance evaluation, staff development, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Monitor quality of social work services through audits, chart reviews, case consultations, and training as required.
• Oversee coordination of client discharges with the client, family, interdisciplinary team, and community resources; approve discharge plans not created by a licensed social worker.
• Ensure compliance with facility quality improvement programs and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS) as part of daily operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including disaster response or COOP activation with possible alternate shifts or locations.

• Licensure:
  Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Supervisor (LCSW-S) is required; must maintain licensure in accordance with the Texas Board of Social Work Examiners.
• Experience:
  
  Two (2) years’ experience, including one year directly with persons with mental, social, or substance use disorders; one year of experience providing clinical supervision to LMSWs is preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  Knowledge of mental illness, rehabilitation methods, casework principles, community resources, and social work practices; strong interviewing and supervisory abilities; ability to oversee a social work program and evaluate reports and assessments.
• Initial screening criteria: LCSW-S required; additional criteria as applicable to the position.

• Part-time position with focus on therapy at Austin State Hospital for inpatient clients with complex needs; some duties may be administrative social work supervision.
• Background checks: fingerprint, pre-employment drug screen, CANRS, LEIE, etc.;
  Selective Service as required.
• Immunization policy compliance; vaccine-preventable disease considerations; possible mask requirements if not immunized against influenza.
