Embedded Software Engineer

Overview

We’re working with a fast-growing robotics company in Austin that designs and operates large-scale autonomous systems used in real-world production environments.

This is a hands-on embedded software role focused on building and maintaining control software that runs on physical machines, not simulations. You’ll work close to hardware, collaborate across disciplines, and ship software that is actively deployed in the field.

• Design and develop embedded and real-time control software for robotic systems
• Build control architectures with both hard and soft real-time requirements
• Write clean, modular C++ used across a production fleet
• Develop communication layers between supervisory and real-time systems
• Support system integration, validation, and on-machine testing
• Create simulation and automated test environments to support CI
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems teams

• 2+ years of professional experience using modern C++ (C++17 or newer)
• Hands-on experience with robotics, automation, or embedded systems
• Exposure to sensors, actuators, and closed-loop control systems
• Experience with C/C++, Python, ROS, TwinCAT, or MATLAB
• Comfortable working in hardware-adjacent, fast-moving environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and practical engineering judgement

• Experience with real-time industrial or motion control systems
• Familiarity with IP-based networking or field buses such as EtherCAT
• Background in system bring-up, integration, or production support
• Experience shipping software into production or safety-critical environments
