Software Developer in Test; SDET

Overview

Spy Cloud is on a mission to disrupt cybercrime and protect users’ accounts worldwide. We are seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead the vision, architecture, and implementation of automated testing frameworks and strategies that ensure the highest quality of Spy Cloud’s software products. This role influences quality engineering practices across teams, embeds AI-powered testing capabilities into QA workflows, and leads the adoption of intelligent automation to accelerate delivery.

You will collaborate with development, product, and operations teams and evaluate off-the-shelf AI services to improve testing efficiency.

• Architect, design, and lead the development of automated test scripts and frameworks to ensure robust test coverage.
• Use traditional automation and AI-powered test generation from product requirements and user stories.
• Adopt self-healing automation frameworks that adapt to UI and API changes; leverage AI tools for data validation and scenario creation.
• Define and execute organization-wide AI-enhanced testing strategies, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
• Apply AI-assisted risk-based test prioritization, automated defect triaging, and AI-assisted root cause analysis to accelerate resolutions; establish data-driven QA metrics from AI insights.
• Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to integrate AI-driven quality enhancements early in the lifecycle.
• Communicate AI-driven quality improvements, results, and strategic priorities to stakeholders; evaluate emerging AI testing tools for ROI.
• Define scalable, AI-assisted test environments and synthetic data generation for realistic, privacy-safe testing scenarios; integrate AI-powered anomaly detection for proactive environment health checks.
• Mentor engineers across multiple teams on AI-assisted testing techniques, prompt engineering, and intelligent test design.
• Lead company-wide AI-focused quality initiatives and run workshops on practical AI usage in testing; promote AI as an accelerator, not an over-complication.

• 8+ years of experience in software testing and test automation.
• Proven experience architecting automation frameworks and applying UI, unit, integration, and performance testing; experience with traditional and AI-assisted tools valued.
• Experience testing web applications, APIs, and databases, with both manual and automated coverage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Type Script, or Golang.
• Expertise in automation frameworks, AI-assisted testing tools, and Agile delivery models.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills; ability to present AI-driven quality insights to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

• Master’s degree in a related field is advantageous.
• Familiarity with React, Type Script, and Golang, especially in AI-enhanced testing contexts.
• Experience with AI-augmented performance testing tools and traditional tools like JMeter and Locust.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and processes (e.g., Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI).
• Experience leveraging cloud-based AI services such as AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, or Google Cloud Vertex AI.
