Ambiq's mission is to enable intelligence everywhere by delivering the lowest power semiconductor solutions. Ambiq is a pioneer and a leading provider of ultra‑low‑power semiconductor solutions based on our proprietary and patented sub‑ and near‑threshold technologies. With the increasing power requirements of artificial intelligence (AI) computing, our customers rely on our solutions to deliver AI to edge environments. Our hardware and software innovations fundamentally deliver a multi‑fold improvement in power consumption over traditional semiconductor designs without expensive process geometry scaling.
Since 2010, we have addressed the power consumption challenges of battery‑powered devices at the edge, where they were most pronounced. As of early 2025, we have shipped more than 280+ million units worldwide.
Our innovative and fast‑moving teams of design, research, development, production, marketing, sales, and operations are spread across several continents, including the US (Austin), Taiwan (Hsinchu), China (Shanghai and Shenzhen), and Singapore. We value relentless technology innovation, a deep commitment to customer success, collaborative problem‑solving, and an enthusiastic pursuit of energy efficiency. We embrace candidates who share these values. The successful candidate must be self‑motivated, creative, and comfortable learning and driving exciting new technologies.
We encourage and nurture an environment that fosters growth and opportunities to work on complex, meaningful, and challenging projects, creating a lasting impact and shaping the future of technology. Join us on our quest for enabling billions of intelligent devices. The intelligence everywhere revolution starts here.
This role will be on‑site 5 days a week in NW Austin.
As a member of the Security team at Ambiq, the Senior Staff Software Engineer, Security will participate in developing and supporting Ambiq’s Trust Zone‑based Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) offering for the Apollo & Atomiq SoC and emulation platforms.
This role will work within our Security software development team and will collaborate closely with SoC and system architecture teams, Security architects, and the local SoC design team, focusing on enabling the Trust Zone functions in Ambiq’s SoC and software offerings.
A successful candidate should be a fast‑learning, result‑driven, and self‑motivated team player with an “always learning” mindset. He/she should have an inquiring spirit and be comfortable in a lab environment and with hands‑on debugging of embedded systems. The candidate will be involved in the extension of each of these to cover new MCU members of the family as they become available.
Responsibilities- Enable Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) support on Ambiq’s Trust Zone (ARM v8) enabled Apollo and Atomiq family of products.
- Take reference Trusted Firmware for Microcontroller (TF‑m) implementation from ARM and adapt it to suit the specifics of Ambiq’s Trust Zone implementation.
- Drive necessary Secure Boot loader software updates, laying the foundation for TEE and implementing necessary elements required for TF‑m.
- Help drive SDK infrastructure and architectural changes to support TF‑m‑enabled systems.
- Spearhead Ambiq’s compliance efforts by supporting industry‑leading security certifications like ARM PSA and SESIP.
- Work closely with Alpha customers to ensure seamless integration of TF‑m by testing and verifying its functionality in customer builds.
- Work closely with the SQA and System Test team to help define and implement test cases for security deliverables to ensure full coverage.
- ABachelor's of Science or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- 10+ years of experience developing embedded software for real‑time environments (bare metal and RTOS).
- At least 5 years working on embedded security, cryptography, Trust Zone, and secure boot.
- Solid understanding and proven ability to port and support ARM Trusted Firmware for Microcontrollers (TF‑m).
- Understanding of security implications for embedded systems, and experience with IoT security concepts (Trust Zone, Root of Trust, Secure Boot, Secure…
