The RDS Platform scheduling team owns the patching scheduling domain for all RDS and Aurora engines. This includes the end‑to‑end patching and maintenance platform for Amazon RDS – one of AWS’s largest and most critical managed database services. We build and operate the systems that automatically schedule, orchestrate, and safely deploy database engine upgrades, OS patches, and version deprecations across millions of customer resources worldwide.

Key services include Bluestone, Anaha, RDS Event Service, AWS Health Updater, and AWF patching schedulers, as well as the Henosis upgrade rollout policy framework.

• Design, implement, and maintain the scheduling, orchestration, and deployment components of the patching platform.
• Develop AI‑powered scheduling logic to replace heuristics with intelligent, usage‑pattern‑based recommendations.
• Enable near‑zero downtime OS upgrades and GenAI‑driven policy setups for customers.
• Integrate Amazon Q and other AWS services to enhance upgrade management.
• Collaborate with PE and Sr. SDE teams across RDS, Aurora, and the broader database space to deliver features at AWS‑wide scale.
• Ensure high availability and resilience of scheduling services with minimal customer impact.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
