Performance Test Engineer - Austin, TX

Position Summary

As part of the development team at Trend

AI, this Performance Testing Engineer role focuses on performance testing and test automation for intrusion protection devices using tools such as Ixia and Breaking point on on‑prem and virtual devices deployed on AWS and Azure.

The role collaborates to obtain performance certifications such as Net Sec Open .

• Provide guidance on effective strategy to achieve performance testing on on‑prem and cloud environments.
• Support and mentor junior engineers to produce effective test and automated test strategies.
• Participate in scrum teams and provide estimation of effort and acceptance criteria.
• Implement automated test cases using Python.
• Implement effective best practices to be followed by the R&D organization.
• Understand the big picture of solutions provided by the R&D organization.
• Work with cross‑functional teams (Architects, Developers, QA) and design an effective automated test strategy for functional, system, performance, and longevity tests.

• Experience using Ixia and Breaking point for performance testing.
• Knowledge of networking concepts (L2, L3, L4 protocols).
• Professional experience with Python, Java or a similar language.
• Understanding of automation design patterns and software testing principles and methodologies.
• Experience in continuous integration environments, ideally using Git Hub Actions.
• Experience working with a team using Agile and scrum.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure and other cloud platforms.
• Experience configuring AWS VPCs, Transit gateways and NAT.
• Five or more years of industry experience.
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

This is a hybrid role based in our Austin, TX office with an expectation of 3 days onsite per week.
