About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Consumer Engineering teams. This leader will oversee critical consumer-facing experiences. The ideal candidate will drive technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration across engineering, product, and design teams to create seamless, engaging, and high-performance web and app experiences for our users. As a leader, you will bring a passion for technology and fostering high-performing teams, inspiring them to build impactful, cutting-edge solutions that shape the future of real estate.

What

you’ll do
  • Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams focused on consumer-facing products, ensuring high performance, technical excellence, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and execute a technology roadmap that enhances search, map-based discovery, listing interactions, home ownership tools, and mortgage experiences.
  • Partner with Product Management, Design, and Data teams to drive user-centric innovation and impactful features.
  • Collaborate closely with other Consumer Engineering leaders to ensure a cohesive cross‑platform experience.
  • Foster a culture of engineering best practices, including scalable architecture, performance optimization, and high availability.
  • Collaborate with Core Tech & Platforms to enhance observability, reliability, and system performance.
  • Improve search relevance, data integrations, and AI‑driven personalization for a better user experience.
  • Own technical strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with company goals and delivering measurable business impact.
  • Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation and empowerment.
  • Champion cross‑functional collaboration across engineering, product, design, and analytics to drive business success.
What you’ll bring
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.
  • Proven experience leading large‑scale, consumer‑facing applications.
  • Strong background in search technologies, mapping platforms, media experiences, and real estate data is highly desirable.
  • Deep expertise in modern web and app technologies, cloud platforms, and scalable architectures.
  • Experience leading distributed teams and working in fast‑paced, agile environments.
  • Strong product and business acumen, with the ability to translate user needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of building high‑performing engineering teams.
  • Passion for real estate technology.
