Senior Member of Technical Staff - Virtualization

Team Overview

We are responsible for building one of the lowest layers of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure stack:
Virtual Machines. The Virtual Machine Data Plane team is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the virtualization stack that supports running customer virtual machines. Our hypervisors run across different CPU architectures and virtualize underlying hardware capabilities like CPU, GPU, NVMe with near‑bare metal performance. We are continually pushing the boundaries of virtualization technology to achieve our mission of offering customers highly‑performant, always‑available, and elastic virtual machines.

As a Member of Technical Staff, you will be responsible for leading software development efforts for significant features in Oracle Compute's service offerings. The role requires a blend of hands‑on engineering expertise and leadership skills, focusing on building and operating large‑scale, highly available cloud services. The ideal candidate will mentor team members, drive high‑priority programs, and contribute to the evolution of standard practices within the software engineering division.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Certain US customer or client‑facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.

Range: US Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 – $178,100 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

  Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non‑overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment.
  
  Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
