Lead AI Solutions Engineer - AWS / Bedrock / Claude

We are seeking a Lead AI Solutions Engineer to join a small engineering team responsible for building backend services and intelligent customer experience platforms within a cloud-native AWS environment.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where the Lead works alongside the team to design solutions, build services, and drive the adoption of AI-augmented development and AI-powered customer solutions. Engineers on this team operate within a flat hierarchy where everyone contributes to both architecture and implementation.

The role focuses primarily on backend system design and serverless architecture, while leveraging Claude via AWS Bedrock to build intelligent workflows and enhance engineering productivity.

This position operates within a regulated Life, Annuity, and Health insurance environment, requiring systems to meet HIPAA, SOC 2, and insurance regulatory standards while enabling modern AI-driven capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and APIs using AWS serverless architecture.
• Architect scalable systems using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and Dynamo
  
  DB.
• Develop AI-enabled solutions leveraging Claude via AWS Bedrock.
• Implement intelligent workflows and automation powered by large language models.
• Design integrations with internal platforms and legacy insurance systems.
• Help drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows across the engineering team.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentoring engineers and contributing directly to system design and development.
• Own systems end-to-end from architecture and implementation through production support.
• Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and regulatory requirements within the insurance domain.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6-10 years of experience in software engineering or backend development.
• Strong experience building cloud-native systems on AWS.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Dynamo
  
  DB, and serverless architectures.
• Experience building or integrating AI-enabled applications using Claude via AWS Bedrock.
• Strong experience designing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Ability to design scalable solutions and make pragmatic technology decisions.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern Dev Ops practices.
• Strong problem-solving and system design skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor engineers.

Preferred Experience

• Experience integrating with legacy enterprise platforms or third-party systems.
• Experience working in regulated industries such as insurance, financial services, or healthcare.
• Familiarity with React or modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot, LLM-based coding tools).
