Software Engineer - Fintech

Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Software Engineer - Fintech - this is a hybrid role in Austin TX. Salary range: 140-180K USD base plus benefits plus equity.

• Designing and building scalable backend microservices -- primarily in Go -- that power a platform processing millions of daily communications and managing over $1B in debt.
• Writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, designing database schemas, and ensuring data integrity in a compliance-critical environment.
• Using AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude) daily to generate, validate, and ship production-grade code -- setting architectural context so AI outputs meet quality standards.
• Collaborating with product owners to identify gaps in requirements, flush out edge cases, and turn business needs into clear engineering specs.
• Building AI-enabled features and agent workflows (MCP servers, LLM integrations, RAG patterns) to augment platform capabilities.

  SQL, AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Cloud Watch), Linux, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Git, Python.

• 4+ years of experience in backend software engineering (Mandatory).
• Built microservices end-to-end that read/write to databases at scale for systems handling high volume (e.g., millions of transactions/messages daily) (Mandatory).
• Combined experience at both a large company and a startup (Nice-to have).
• Experience in regulated industry (fintech/payments, healthcare) (Nice-to-have).
• Degree in CS or related field (Nice-to-have).
• Strong SQL skills: schema design, indexes, query optimization (Mandatory).
• Proficient using AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, etc.) daily (Mandatory).
• Experience with AI/LLM integration or MCP/agent development (Nice-to-have).
• Can translate product requirements into engineering specs independently (Mandatory).

• Series A with $24M raised and 35x revenue growth last year. 22-person team growing 15% month over month with $1B+ in debt on the platform. This is a rocketship.
• You’ll own scalable backend services in Go and build AI-enabled features that directly drive revenue in a high-volume regulated environment processing billions of transactions.
