Software Engineer, AI Engineer
What You'll Do
- Build, test, and maintain scalable, reliable software that supports Bumble’s Trust & Safety systems
- Contribute to the development lifecycle from design through deployment and monitoring, delivering high-quality code
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement systems that help detect and prevent harmful behavior
- Solve technical problems independently, using sound judgment and creativity to deliver effective solutions
- Take ownership of your work, seeing tasks through from idea to impact while adapting with an agile mindset
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate development, run operations, improve code quality, and enhance problem-solving efficiency, while applying strong human judgment and accountability
- Apply responsible and thoughtful use of AI, validating outputs and ensuring solutions are accurate, fair, and aligned with user safety needs
- Contribute to a team culture grounded in curiosity, respect, and continuous improvement
- Typically requires 3+ years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills
- Experience writing production-level software in at least one modern programming language
- Ability to work independently on moderately complex problems and deliver reliable solutions
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Demonstrates an agile mindset, adapting to new information and following work through to completion
- Comfortable using AI-powered tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Copilot) to support coding, learning, and productivity
- Experience with ML-assisted development workflows and experimentation
- Applies AI thoughtfully and responsibly, reviewing outputs for accuracy, bias, and relevance before use
- Curious and motivated to continuously learn new technologies and improve your craft
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (eg AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (eg Docker, Kubernetes), and deployment workflows
- Exposure to Trust & Safety, machine learning systems, or recommendation systems
- This role is based in Austin, and we ask that you’re within a commutable distance to this office, so that you’re able to come onsite regularly to collaborate across engineering teams.
- We have a hybrid environment that requires you to be in the office Monday - Wednesday.

$155,000 - $175,000 a year
For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location. This position is also typically eligible to participate in our short- and long-term incentive programs. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) match, Unlimited Paid Time Off Policy.
