Software Engineer – Austin, TX
As part of Pay Pal Data Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pay Pal, this role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining complex, high‑throughput distributed software applications on our web platform.
Job Responsibilities- Define, design, and implement complex, multi‑tier distributed software applications.
- Develop high‑throughput back‑end software systems using Java, Type Script, Ruby, etc.
- Build sustainable, automated software processes and pipelines to support technical debt remediation for the web platform frameworks and fleet of software applications.
- Interface with web platform engineering and other platform software application teams to provide a seamless experience for web engineers during support.
- Build performance efficient, highly scalable, configurable, and available software applications and systems.
- Segment and design technical system layers to support componentized and layered software application development, including business logic and database component repository access.
- Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a time‑critical environment; recommend risk reduction.
- Collaborate with managers, product management, quality analysts, and operations teams to develop innovative technical solutions that meet market needs and adhere to software development goals.
- Design and implement user interfaces using frontend frameworks to create engaging and intuitive web software applications; optimize UI performance and ensure accessibility.
- Integrate APIs into the frontend to fetch and manipulate data; collaborate with backend engineers on API design.
- Monitor and support technical requests for technology use cases.
- Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field.
- At least one year of experience in a related occupation or job offered.
- Experience developing, testing, and maintaining software components on AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS).
- On‑call incident management using monitoring tools and logs and collaborating to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Backend development in Java; experience with Type Script and Ruby.
- Developing web applications with JavaScript, jQuery, Angular
JS (migration from jQuery to Angular). - Designing responsive web interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Developing complex SQL stored procedures, triggers, Hive queries, PL/SQL functions to optimize performance.
- Designing and building ETL pipelines using SQL, AWS, and big data technologies.
- Designing distributed systems using Docker and microservices architecture.
- Applying object‑oriented principles in Java.
- Implementing unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing using frameworks such as Mocha and Jest.
