Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of modern web applications, APIs, and backend services in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role is responsible for owning features end-to-end across front-end applications, backend systems, integrations, databases, and authentication workflows.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in full-stack development using technologies such as Node.js, Type Script, React, Next.js, and Material UI, along with a passion for building scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions. This individual will collaborate closely with engineering leadership, architects, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions that support business objectives and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Product Delivery & Technical Execution

Lead the design, development, and delivery of product features and team-owned services from concept through production deployment with minimal oversight.
Translate product goals, business requirements, and stakeholder needs into clear technical solutions, implementation plans, and project milestones.
Own and deliver features across front-end applications, backend services, APIs, integrations, databases, and authentication workflows.
Collaborate with architects, engineering leadership, product teams, and business partners to align technical solutions with organizational goals.
Communicate project progress, technical decisions, implementation trade-offs, and risks effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Backend Development & System Integration

Develop and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable APIs using Node.js, Type Script, and OpenAPI.
Build backend services and system integrations supporting business-critical workflows, internal tools, and web applications.
Design technical solutions involving databases, SQL queries, data contracts, and integration patterns.
Support authentication and authorization strategies, ensuring secure communication between applications and services.
Troubleshoot and optimize backend performance, scalability, and system reliability.

Front-End Engineering & User Experience

Design and implement intuitive, accessible, and maintainable user interfaces using React, Next.js, Material UI, and shared component libraries.
Apply modern front-end architecture principles to improve usability, performance, accessibility, and maintainability.
Develop reusable UI components and contribute to shared front-end standards and best practices.
Build responsive, reliable, and user-focused applications aligned with product and business goals.

Engineering Quality & Operational Excellence

Champion software quality, performance, maintainability, and operational excellence across the application stack.
Write clean, secure, testable, and maintainable code that supports long-term platform stability and product growth.
Participate in code reviews, technical planning sessions, architecture discussions, and release management activities.
Identify and address technical debt while improving system reliability and developer experience.
Follow secure software development practices appropriate for a regulated healthcare environment.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

Influence technical direction and contribute to key architecture and implementation decisions.
Evaluate trade-offs related to scalability, maintainability, security, speed, operational cost, and business value.
Break down complex technical initiatives into actionable tasks and execute them through completion.
Collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, leadership, and stakeholders across teams.
Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance, collaborative problem-solving, and code reviews.
Contribute to a positive, growth-oriented engineering culture and support the responsible use of modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted development workflows.

This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
