Luna Data Solutions is seeking a Senior AWS Engineer for a long term hybrid contract opportunity in Austin.

Senior AWS Engineer with strong hands‑on expertise in cloud‑native development using AWS services. This position focuses on advanced AWS engineering, including serverless development, microservices, cloud architecture, CI/CD automation, and enterprise Dev Ops support.
Candidates must hold one of the following certifications: AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience building scalable, secure, and cost‑effective AWS solutions.
Environment has applications that operate primarily within a People Soft financial environment, this role is dedicated to AWS cloud engineering. People Soft experience is optional and considered a nice‑to‑have only.
Will perform advanced development work collaborating with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to deliver AWS solutions aligned with cloud strategy. This role requires deep hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services, serverless architecture, and full‑stack application development in a large enterprise environment.
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud‑native applications leveraging AWS services
- Implement serverless architectures using services such as AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and Cloud Formation
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design scalable and cost‑effective solutions
- Develop and implement cloud migration strategies for existing applications
- Build and integrate APIs with internal systems and third‑party platforms
- Develop reusable, scalable, and high‑quality code
- Perform code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS and enterprise Dev Ops tools
- Configure and support Dev, Test, and Production environments in coordination with infrastructure teams
- Ensure compliance with environment security standards and industry best practices
- Conduct unit testing, system testing, and deployment activities
- Support Agile/Scrum delivery processes and participate in sprint ceremonies
- Provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to team members
- Participate in on‑call support as required

- 8+ years of experience designing and developing applications in AWS cloud environments
- 8+ years of strong experience with core AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EC2, Cloud Front, Route
53, Cloud Formation and/or AWS CDK, SNS, SQS - 5+ years of experience developing microservices‑based and event‑driven architectures
- 5+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, AWS RDS) and complex SQL queries
- 5+ years of experience with No
SQL databases (Mongo
DB) - 3+ years of experience developing application using No SQL databases (Mongo
DB) - 3+ years of experience implementing Dev Ops pipelines using tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and AWS Dev Ops services
- 3+ years of knowledge with authentication technologies (e.g., Okta, Forge Rock)
- 3+ years of experience with message queue technologies (Kafka, Rabbit
MQ, Active
MQ, or similar) - 3+ years of experience with monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace)
- 3+ years of strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- 3+ years of strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- 3+ years of experience presenting technical solutions to leadership and executive stakeholders.
- 3+ years of experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium).
- 3+ years of experience using Source Tree (Git client), CCTray for AWS deployment monitoring, Cyberduck for S3 transfer, using Yarn package manager for node packages during development
- 2+ years of strong understanding of security best practices (e.g., IAM roles, KMS, etc.) and implementing authentication using OKTA based authentication technology in AWS
- 2+ years of experience with WCAG 2.0 Standards, 508 Compliance/Web Accessibility
- 2+ years of experience with People Soft (PS) environments, particularly in financial systems, is a plus but not required
