Job Title

Software Engineer – Graviton Software (Austin, TX)

The AWS Graviton Software team seeks Software Engineers to optimize performance for AWS Graviton, the fastest and most cost‑efficient compute platform on AWS. Graviton powers the majority of new EC2 capacity and is used by more than 90% of our largest customers.

• Enhance architectures and algorithms to achieve optimal performance
• Use tools such as Aperf, sysstat, sysctl, and perf to identify bottlenecks and analyze processor, OS, and workload metrics
• Optimize software performance for AWS customers and services including S3, Lambda, EMR, Elasti Cache, and RDS
• Contribute to Linux kernel improvements and other open‑source projects
• Develop analysis frameworks, automation systems, and new performance‑analysis features
• Build and maintain automation solutions for performance testing and profiling

You will work on Linux kernel development, C++/Rust debugging, and assembly‑level optimizations across a diverse range of applications, including databases, web services, games, video encoding, machine learning, and HPC workloads.

• 5+ years of professional software development (non‑internship)
• 5+ years of programming experience in at least one language
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering manager
