About the DepartmentCloudflare’s Engineering Team builds and runs the software that handles large volumes of HTTP requests on the Internet today. The team focuses on product development and operations, scaling existing software and delivering new features.
What You’ll DoYou will be a full‑stack software engineer on our control plane product platform, responsible for building and maintaining the codebase powering both customer APIs and internal service APIs. This role requires expertise in backend architecture, database design, RESTful API design, and modern containerized deployment practices. You will work closely with product teams to understand and document functional requirements, develop new code, and maintain existing code to resolve bugs.
The API platform operates under constant load and scrutiny, so writing clean, well‑tested code and visualizing data flow through complex applications is essential.
- 5+ years of professional experience building and managing software applications at scale.
- Deep knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as Go, Rust, JavaScript, or PHP with strong computer science fundamentals.
- Experience designing and architecting large‑scale distributed systems.
- Experience designing, implementing, and documenting customer‑facing APIs.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and relational database systems such as PostgreSQL.
- Experience debugging, optimizing, and identifying failures in large‑scale distributed systems.

- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Passion for Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana).
- Experience with deploying containerized applications (Docker & Kubernetes).
- Strong history of delivering full‑stack applications in partnership with product owners and user experience designers.
For Colorado-based hires:
Estimated annual salary of $137,000 - $167,000.
This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
