Position: Software Development Engineer III, Amazon Privacy Services

Amazon Privacy Engineering builds the automated compliance tooling, policy enforcement systems, and regulatory evidence collection systems that protect customer data and ensure regulatory compliance across Stores, Ads, Devices, Prime Video and more.

We run multiple Tier-1, high-throughput, low-latency systems that will drive data protection and policy enforcement across hundreds of services, processing billions of transactions worldwide. As such, this role requires thought leadership, an ability to think outside the box, and think big to solve complex regulatory challenges in a scalable, builder‑friendly way across all of Amazon.

About you

You're looking for a career where you'll be able to ideate, innovate, design, build and deliver technology solutions. You look at problems holistically and thrive on cutting through complexity to deliver simple and maintainable solutions. You want to work on projects where you are implementing solutions to real problems that require creative solutions and deep understanding of the problem space. You challenge yourself and others to constantly come up with better solutions.

You strive to elevate team members through mentorship and the establishment of bar raising mechanisms. This highly visible role requires frequent communication with leadership in order to help shape and deliver on the product roadmap, and requires you to nimbly switch between strategic and tactical initiatives to achieve technical, business, and customer experience goals. You'll be given an opportunity to own and drive initiatives through the entire software stack - from customer facing features, to exploratory innovation, all the way down to the datasets that the back-end services store.

  • Actively recruit and help others leverage your expertise, by coaching and mentoring in our organization.
  • A day in the life

You will work with product owners, technical program managers, privacy experts, engineering managers and engineers (including Sr. Principal) to ideate, design, plan, build and release privacy products that not only meet today's compliance needs, but are extensible in ways that simplify ongoing regulatory compliance efforts, moving toward zero‑touch compliance for builders.
