Front-End NextJS Web Developer

Hybrid work schedule (4 days/week in office) - Austin, TX

As a NextJS web developer (experience engineer), you will play an integral role within Schwab's in-house agency, Creative Center (C2), contributing to and executing on our marketing and business partners' vision. You will help ensure high-quality digital experiences for our consumers, collaborate on the strategic direction of digital marketing, and deliver best-in-class customer experiences that support Schwab's broader business goals.

  • You enjoy learning new technologies, collaborating with others, and turning business and design requirements into intuitive digital experiences.
  • You bring a strong foundation in front-end development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and modern web development principles.
  • You are passionate about building accessible, responsive, and maintainable applications, continuously improving your skills, and following Schwab engineering standards and best practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain enterprise web experiences using NextJS, React, Type Script, and Sanity CMS.
  • Build reusable, scalable, and maintainable UI components that support Schwab's digital design system.
  • Translate UX and visual designs into responsive, accessible, and performant web experiences.
  • Partner with designers, content authors, business analysts, and engineers to deliver high-quality digital experiences.
  • Configure and support content models, schemas, and within Sanity CMS.
  • Develop integrations with APIs and dynamic content sources to power personalized customer experiences.
  • Optimize websites for performance, accessibility, SEO, and responsive behavior across devices and browsers.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and Agile team ceremonies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, styling issues, content rendering issues, and performance concerns.
  • Follow established development standards, testing practices, accessibility requirements, and governance processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation guidance, and support materials.
  • Continuously learn emerging technologies and contribute ideas that improve team effectiveness and digital experiences.
  • Collaborate across Marketing, Creative Center (C2), Mar Tech, and Engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Technical experience:

  • Proficient, hands on experience building modern web applications using React and/or NextJS.
  • Experience developing reusable components and maintainable front-end code.
  • Experience integrating Sanity or other headless CMS to populate frontend environments.
  • Familiarity with Type Script and modern JavaScript development patterns.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and semantic HTML practices.
  • Basic understanding of headless CMS platforms and content-driven web architectures.
  • Exposure to API integrations using REST and/or GraphQL.
  • Experience using Git for source control and collaborative development workflows.
  • Familiarity with debugging tools, browser developer tools, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Understanding of web performance fundamentals and optimization best practices.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.

Preferred/differentiating experience:

  • 3+ years' experience with ReactJS and NextJS.
