GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Perform highly advanced training for the Training Operations division. Work involves planning, researching, developing, organizing, instructing, and evaluating all aspects of the health, wellness, and strength and conditioning training programs. Work under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee and coordinate fitness and wellness programs, services, and activities; and monitor programs to ensure effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and analyze training needs in support of the program.
  • Plan and direct training to support the program.
  • Research, design, implement, schedule, and conduct training via lecture setting on health and wellness topics as well as instruct exercise classes.
  • Oversee, develop, and implement curricula, course outlines, instructional methods, training aids and methods, manuals, and other support material including but not limited to weight management, stress reduction, health risk management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records on participants to support agency responsibilities and requirements.
  • Participate in solving training issues and ensure the effective utilization of modern training methods and techniques to support the program; and is an active participant in the program and trains by example.
  • Translate the latest scientific evidence into practical application in support of the fitness and wellness training program.
  • Formulate policies and procedures for fitness and wellness programs.
  • Develop long range training goals for the program.
  • Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

    Education – Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree preferably in physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, athletic training, nutrition or a related degree.

    Experience – Four (4) years or more experience in administering or instructing health, wellness, and/or strength and conditioning training programs in a training academy or fitness facility preferred.
