This position is responsible for supervising the Vehicle Maintenance Inspectors, Business Systems Analyst, EAM, Coordinator, Non-Revenue Vehicle, Vehicle Maintenance Planner and Coordinator, Onboard Technology.

This position is responsible for supervising the Vehicle Maintenance Inspectors, Business Systems Analyst, EAM, Coordinator, Non-Revenue Vehicle, Vehicle Maintenance Planner and Coordinator, Onboard Technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Note:

MAINTENANCE OVERLOOK & COMPLIANCE
  • Monitor day to day oversight of contractor maintenance and audits vehicle conditions for owned and contracted fleet equipment.
  • Inspect bus and paratransit equipment, and monitor processes and work performed for compliance with federal regulations, contract specifications, and maintenance standards.
  • Test drives equipment.
QUALITY ASSURANCE & CONTROL
  • Develop and coordinate the Cap Metro Maintenance Contract Monitoring Plan.
  • Coordinate and/or perform technical studies and tests relative to corrective maintenance, vehicle inspection, preventive maintenance, and safety problems.
  • Work with contractors to develop corrective action plans and put controls in place to monitor and report results.
  • Develop and submit weekly and monthly quality assurance/quality control compliance reports.
CONTRACTOR COORDINATION & ISSUE RESOLUTION
  • Coordinate with contractors to correct fleet defects and warranty issues for bus, and paratransit equipment maintenance.
  • Inspect and test repairs performed, give feedback, develop quality assurance, and control guidelines and standards for contracted services.
REPORTING, TRACKING & BUDGETING
  • Develop and coordinate the budget for quality control function.
  • Create and maintain a reporting and filing system to monitor status and track improvement of overall fleet maintenance for all Authority vehicles.
  • Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by ensuring staff follows safety and security policies, considers safety in every action, and ensures safety and security concerns are reported.
  • Perform other position related duties as required and/or assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES - SUPERVISOR AND/OR LEADERSHIP EXERCISED

Direct and manage department personnel by planning, scheduling, delegating, and overseeing employee work assignments, authorizing, coordinating, and scheduling work with vendors and consultants, conducting personnel actions, including, hiring, and interviewing, and overseeing hiring, training, work assignments, and performance evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Planning, or related field. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four (4) years.
  • Eight (8) years of progressive responsible experience with a public transit agency, specifically within vehicle maintenance and two (2) years of supervisory/lead experience in a transit maintenance shop.
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license for the past three years-Class B/CDL preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Experience in operating various types of transit buses, performing visual and measured inspections on transit buses.
  • Experience in written correspondence and communication with bus manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with written technical specifications for transit buses.
  • Experience in performing project managerial and administrative duties for bus procurements.
  • Exemplary safety record and ability to maintain B/CDL license and to operate transit buses in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to develop written technical specifications and drafts for bus procurements and or equipment purchases.
