Driver Trainee

Responsibilities

• Participate in the Driver Training Program while performing Freight Handler duties.
• Complete 8 hours behind the wheel of a Company truck.
• Complete 25 hours of yard training, including pre‑trip inspections, control usage, hooking/unhooking, and backing.
• Load and unload trailers individually or with dock workers, with or without mechanical equipment.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, and carrying of freight.
• Inspect truck for defects and safe operation before, during, and after trips.
• Submit a written Vehicle Condition Report (VCR) after each trip or tour of duty.
• Check hazardous materials preparation and ensure shipping papers and placards are correct.
• Drive truck to assigned destinations.
• Ensure all shipping documentation is present and accompanies shipments on delivery.
• Maintain required records for compliance with state and federal regulations (driver’s log, roadside inspection records, mileage records, etc.).

• At least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass a background check and alcohol/drug test with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• At least 6 months of driving experience, including a personal vehicle.
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDLA) with Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.

Pay: $33.35 – $34.50 per hour. Full‑time, first shift.
