Shift Supervisor – Aircraft Fueling Operations Role Purpose

As a Menzies Aviation Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all aircraft fuelers in the fueling operations. You will issue written and verbal instructions while ensuring adherence to safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews data on incoming flights, such as scheduled or estimated times of arrival or departure, destinations and down line station stops, to plan work activities.
  • Directs and coordinates all operations functions and ensures workers and equipment are available for fueling and defueling services.
  • Supervises aircraft fueling operations to ensure fuelers perform their duties in a professional, safe and efficient manner according to company/carrier standards.
  • Ensures the effective operation of fueling.
  • Prepares and submits reports such as staffing updates, shift reports, delay reports and equipment status reports.
  • Responsible for accurate accounting and fuel transactions.
  • Recommends manpower requirements.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Acts as a mentor to other employees.
  • Assists subordinates in performing duties.
  • Ensures disciplinary procedures are conducted fairly, timely and consistently.
  • Upholds the company’s commitment to equal employment opportunity.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Complies with attendance/tardiness standards.
  • Operates fuel trucks to provide services to customers.
  • Performs basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure.

Qualifications

& Requirements
  • Prior aircraft fueling experience required.
  • Prior management, supervisory or lead experience in the aviation industry preferred.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • Valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and all pre‑employment testing.
  • Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Comfortable lifting 70 lbs repeatedly.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Pass FBI background check and obtain US Customs seal.
  • Maintain FAA required identification/seals or authorizations.
  • Report any significant deficiency in products, materials or documents.
  • Suggest improvements to working practices, especially those relating to safety and security.
  • High school diploma, GED or six months experience as a lead fueler.

  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to build relationships.
Working Conditions
  • May work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts, high voltages and high hydraulic/pneumatic pressures.
  • Exposed to loud noise, fumes, airborne particles and hazardous substances.
  • Occasional work in high or precarious places.
  • Under daily supervision of the Maintenance Manager with assistance from the Station Manager.
  • Performs periodic maintenance and inspections on filters, pumps, valves, tanks, pressure controls, metering and gauging equipment, company vehicles.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment and pipeline issues.
  • Ensures all work is performed timely and with quality workmanship.
  • Maintains professional image for Menzies Aviation.

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reaching, climbing or balancing; talking and hearing.
