SUMMARY

A Westbrook Metals warehouse worker is the focal point of our service commitment to our customers. It is one of the things that make us different from our competitors. Our warehouse workers must present a professional personal image as well as a positive mental attitude for our customers.

A warehouse worker for Westbrook Metals, Inc. assists our customers by pulling stock, cutting stock to the customers' specifications, and either loading it on the customer vehicle or delivering the order with a Westbrook Metals, Inc. delivery vehicle.

A warehouse worker also unloads delivery trucks, stocks the product in our warehouse bins, and prepares UPS orders for outside shipment.

AUTHORITY AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Warehouse worker is hired by and reports to the Manager.

A warehouse worker is authorized to receive cash or checks from customers when delivering a merchandise order after providing the customer with the proper receipt.

The Warehouse worker has the authority to sign for the receipt of inventory delivered to our warehouse. When doing this, they are also responsible for ensuring that the packing list is matched correctly with the material received.

They are also specifically authorized to purchase gasoline for our delivery vehicles, using the corporate gas card.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

A Warehouse worker does not supervise another position at Westbrook Metals, Inc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Comply with all pertinent governmental laws, rules, and regulations in the performance of duties.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that supports the defined mission of Westbrook Metals, Inc.
  • Communicate any unusual needs regarding training, safety, scheduling, inventory, supplies, and equipment to the Manager in a detailed and timely manner to facilitate the appropriate action.
  • Cooperate in maintaining an open and honest line of communication throughout.
  • Present a quality, professional image to the public and to the customers we are.
DUTIES
  • Assist in opening the warehouse each workday so that we are ready for business at 7:30 am.
  • Assist in closing the warehouse each workday at 5:30 pm.
  • Greet customers in a friendly manner and serve them in a way that supports Westbrook Metals, Inc. mission.
  • Unload delivery trucks, compare items received with the packing list, sign for those items received, and stock them in the proper bin.
  • Cut enough pre‑cut stock to maintain the level required by the Lead Man to fulfill current sales projections.
  • Cut and load inventory for customers onto their vehicle as requested.
  • Package inventory for delivery as requested.
  • Cut and load customer orders onto our delivery truck; inspect the load and the truck prior to leaving the warehouse.
    • Material is loaded.
    • Truck fluid levels, gas, safety devices, inspection, license.
  • Plan the most efficient route to minimize drive time.
  • Make deliveries in the most efficient manner possible while not jeopardizing safety.
  • Keep the warehouse and the individual work areas neat, clean, and organized.
  • Observe all safety rules and wear proper safety equipment.
  • Clean all paper and shipping straps from inside and outside the warehouse.
  • Clean and perform preventative maintenance on shears, saws, and other equipment.
  • Stay alert to the needs of other warehouse workers and help when needed.
  • Learn to use equipment and machines correctly.
  • Sort invoices into the proper sorting trays.
  • Help maintain the building and grounds to give a neat appearance; pick up and discard paper, bands, wire ties, wood scraps, boxes, etc.
  • Sign receiving documents and confirm that we received what is on the receiving list.
  • Keep all stocked materials.
  • Put cut‑off materials in the proper place.
  • Comply with all corporate operating policies and procedures and employee guidelines.
  • Check trucks to ensure that inspections and licenses are up to date.
  • Review this job description at least once per year and make recommendations for improvement to the Lead.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

The Warehouse worker shall be deemed to be performing acceptably when the following have been accomplished:
