About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Avalon, CA
Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Avalon, CA
- Schedule: 6 hours a month; 2x a week for 45 minutes
- Rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD
- Strong understanding of foundational literacy instruction, including phonics, early reading development, vocabulary, and reading comprehension
- Skilled in teaching foundational math concepts, number sense, and basic operations
- Patient, engaging, and able to maintain student attention through interactive and hands-on instruction
- Experience supporting executive functioning skills such as focus, organization, task completion, and sustained attention
- Able to break down academic tasks into manageable steps and provide consistent reinforcement
- Comfortable implementing structured routines, frequent redirection, and positive behavior supports
- Creative and flexible in adapting lessons to meet the student's learning needs and interests
- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with students and families
- Able to create engaging lessons that balance academic instruction with movement and motivation
- Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonics, early reading development, vocabulary, and reading comprehension
- Support foundational math skill development, including number sense, counting, basic operations, and problem-solving
- Teach and reinforce executive functioning skills such as task initiation, sustained attention, organization, and assignment completion
- Utilize engaging, multisensory, and hands-on instructional strategies to maintain focus and participation
- Break academic concepts into smaller, achievable steps and provide repeated practice to reinforce learning
- Incorporate frequent redirection, movement breaks, and positive reinforcement to support attention and engagement
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches based on learning needs
- Build academic confidence through structured success opportunities and encouragement
- Incorporate the student's interests in animals and insects to increase motivation and engagement during lessons
- Create a supportive, positive learning environment that encourages persistence, independence, and growth
