Lecturer Ay - Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology at California State University Channel Islands is seeking qualified applicants for its lecturer faculty pool. Positions may become available to teach undergraduate lecture, laboratory, or field courses in any subfield of anthropology, with particular interest in candidates with expertise in archeology, bioanthropology, and sociocultural anthropology. Course assignments may include introductory or upper-division courses depending on program needs.
Minimum Degree Requirements:
Master's degree in Anthropology with demonstrated teaching experience
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the college or university level
- Commitment to student-centered, inclusive pedagogy that supports diverse learners
- Ability to ensure experiential learning opportunities are provided to students both within and outside the classroom.
- Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Anthropology.
- Experience teaching laboratory or field-based environmental science courses
- Demonstrated commitment to community engagement, experiential learning, and equity in higher education
- Extensive field experience in anthropological work
- Engagement of students in experiential learning within and outside the classroom.
Responsibilities:
Lecturer faculty are responsible for preparing course materials, delivering engaging instruction, assessing student learning, and supporting CSUCI's mission of integrative, experiential, and inclusive education.

Compensation:
California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year) Schedules can be found at:
- Range 2: $5,507-$6,677
- Range 3: $6,221-$13,224
- Range 4: $6,825-$14,523
- Range 5: $8,593-$15,211
Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
