Lubrizol Corporation is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering Technologist for a full‑time, on‑site position in Avon Lake, OH, 1st shift. The role is focused on providing technical expertise to plant Operations and maintenance for site instrumentation, control systems (DCS, PLC, SIS), and electrical infrastructure.
How You’ll Make An ImpactAs an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering Technologist you will collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions and ensure safe, reliable operation of automation and electrical systems.
In This Role, You Will- Provide 24/7 on‑call support for all instrumentation, electrical, and control system issues.
- Perform periodic health checks and preventive maintenance on control system hardware, operator workstations, network switches, backbone, and PLC components.
- Assist Operations & Maintenance Departments with troubleshooting that requires technical expertise.
- Participate in checkout, commissioning, and startup activities for projects, expansions, and modifications.
- Implement small‑scale automation and electrical changes for the Engineering Department.
- Assist the Training Coordinator with Operator training activities.
- Provide input to Technical Object Updater and Planned Preventive Maintenance coordinators for spare‑parts management.
- Assist plant Engineers and Designers in creating and maintaining instrumentation standards, logic documentation, P&IDs, loop drawings, and related schematics.
- Provide technical information for process hazard assessments, root‑cause investigations, and corrective actions.
- Work with the Process Control Engineer to install hotfixes, perform database cleans, and support engineers during version upgrades.
- Collaborate with Global Engineering, Procurement, and Lubrizol Electrical and Automation Communities to align with best practices.
- Ensure compliance with mechanical integrity programs and automation security programs.
- Support the Asset Management System for maintenance and reliability functions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, electrical preferred.
- OR
- High school diploma or equivalent with 12+ years of experience as a maintenance or engineering technician focusing on instrumentation within a chemical plant.
- Hands‑on experience with instrumentation such as pressure, level, temperature, flow sensors, and control valves.
- Electrical systems up to 480 V, including relays, motor starters, and VFDs.
- Automation systems such as PLCs, DCS, HMIs;
Delta
V strongly preferred. - Programming languages used in automation (Function Block, Ladder Logic).
- Instrumentation programming software and tools (faceplate parameter selection, HART protocol, etc.).
- Engineering drawings: P&IDs, single‑line diagrams, loop drawings, card drawings, electrical schematics, panel board schedules, etc.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (NFPA 70, 70B, 70E).
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
- Experience with SAP.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
