Location -- 33587 Walker Rd, Avon Lake, Ohio 44012
New Instrument Specifications- Consult on sizing requirements for new instrument PC
- Review guidelines from instrument manufacturer
- Collaborate with Asset Team on selecting matching equipment from OEM (HP)
- Collaborate with Asset Team on placing order for PC equipment
- Physical connection to network
- Allocation of IP Address per VLAN 42 rules (DHCP reservation)
- Setting up instrument data folder on
- Mapping drive to instrument data folder
- Setting up appropriate backup (eg, Cobian)
- Retrieval of phased out equipment and placement into storage for redistribution or redirect to scrap process
- Basic network connectivity troubleshooting
- Basic connectivity to instrument troubleshooting
- Troubleshooting of disk space issues
- Troubleshooting of memory/CPU utilization issues
- Collaborate with vendor on instrument software issues and potential OS/Software changes to resolve issues
- Collaborate with scientist on process issues for instrument use, such as “What is the best way for me to do
- Basic printer troubleshooting
- Troubleshooting of VBA scripting behind Excel and Word forms
- Visual Basic and VBA Scripting
- Excel spreadsheets
- Developing and supporting data entry “Forms” in Excel
- Use of ActiveX Controls in VB and VBA environments
- Use of COM ports for connectivity for instruments
- Use of unmanaged hubs and switches for instrument networks tied to a control PC
- Basic network troubleshooting skills
- Basic printer/print server troubleshooting skills

- Basic PC component level knowledge (Mother board, NIC, Comm ports)
- Ability to install/assemble PC components (eg, NIC, Comm ports)
- Computer/System cabling (network, RS232, other)
- Ability to understand the overall relationship between the PC and the instrument it is controlling, understand the basic function the instrument performs, what data is captured by the PC and how it communicates -> vital to be able to troubleshoot the root cause for communication failures between PC and instrument.
