Position: CNC Manufacturing Engineer

Location:

Avon Lake, OH

What You’ll Do:
  • Implement and monitor productivity improvements such as cycle time improvements and cost cutting measures.
  • Ensure all safety procedures and rules are followed and resolve safety issues.
  • Initiate and follow through on action items to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and write or edit programs.
  • Establish costs and processes for new parts.
  • Oversee proper procedures of shop orders, in‑house inspections, operator inspections, nonconformance issues, and disposition of material and scrap.
  • Verify that all methods of operation and ISO procedures are updated and followed and that effective training programs are maintained.
  • Train and coach employees.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing operations, including fixturing, tooling, and methods.
  • Develop new processes and implement new equipment.
  • Perform new equipment qualification and validation.
  • Identify deficiencies and implement Lean Sigma principles in all aspects of the manufacturing environment.
  • Conduct effective pre‑reviews of jobs released to the floor and post‑reviews after completion.
  • Manage processes to assure continuous improvements for cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Identify and solve related manufacturing problems.
  • Respond promptly to manufacturing problems and operate with a sense of urgency when required.
  • Develop, set up, and implement new machine documentation to achieve organizational performance, production, and financial objectives.
  • Aid or lead in the development of capital equipment justification proposals and implementation for manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborate with planning, quality, purchasing, assembly, and design staff on product design quality planning and fixturing to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities to facilitate production processes.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with manufacturing personnel and other staff to support a positive workplace environment.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve set‑up methods and reduce set‑up times.
  • Work to reduce all aspects of manufacturing costs and waste.
What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience with implementation of continuous improvement initiatives (preferred).
  • Background in technical school or equivalent (helpful).
  • Experience with multi‑axis CNC machining.
  • Ability to drive positive changes in department operations using continuous improvement tools, teamwork, and shop floor metrics.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership by leading by example.
  • Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals).
  • Specific safety training as defined in New Employee Orientation.
  • Procedural training as identified in the Job Function Element Master List.
  • Ability to read blueprints, interpret drawings and dimensions, and develop inspection planning sheets.
  • Understanding and application of ISO and medical procedures relevant to day‑to‑day operations and projects.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of machining, materials, quality programs, safety programs, and resource management.
  • Understanding of production planning concepts.
  • Knowledge of writing and editing programs for all types of CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of using various computer programs to create reports using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of creating manufacturing prints.
