Position TitleAthletic Coach
Minimum Qualifications- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Physical ability to perform essential functions and tasks, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds as frequently as necessary; lifting, crawling, kneeling, bending, stooping, pulling, and pushing when required
- Completion of required athletic coaching courses, including First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Obtain Athletic Coaching Certification from the State of Florida within the required timeline
- Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening
Previous experience preferred as an athletic coach or in the coaching arena.
Primary Performance Responsibilities- Administer all aspects of the activity within the District and school's Athletic Department policy.
- Administer all aspects of the activity within the guidelines of the Florida High School Activities Association and the National Federation Rules.
- Provide safekeeping and accounting for funds when responsible for program fees/collections.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the specific sport, including strategies, current rules, regulations, and safety practices.
- Ensure adequate practice time, organization, and instruction delivery; manage practice and contest organization, emphasize fundamentals, use appropriate coaching techniques for age levels, organize skill demonstrations, maximize practice time, prepare clear practice plans, and manage assistants and contests.
- Display respect for administration, fellow coaches, and the school's activities program with dignity and loyalty.
- Treat participants in a professional, fair, and equitable manner.
- Use effective communication skills in a clear, professional manner.
- Maintain poise and composure during emotionally stressful events, be reliable and punctual.
- Act as a positive role model for students and athletes.
- Use sound judgment in decisions, incorporating common sense, logic, listening, group input, and timing.
- Display an enthusiastic attitude toward the activity; set a good example, motivate participants, and promote team and school spirit.
- Provide proper supervision at all times.
- Supervise and control student conduct: explain and monitor rules, identify and address inappropriate behavior, handle disruptive behavior consistently, encourage enthusiasm, and use praise.
- Care for school property: maintain up-to-date inventory, promote equipment care, provide inventory reports to athletic director.
- Communicate and record written information about the activity, including eligibility, achievements, statistics, awards, equipment, and scheduling.
- Organize practice and game responsibilities clearly, assign primary and extra duties.
