Farmington Valley Academy Montessori is seeking a warm, energetic, and dependable Toddler Assistant to join our collaborative school community. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children aged 15 months - 3 years and is interested in developing their skills within a Montessori environment.

Our school values curiosity, community, and a deep respect for the child. The Toddler Assistant works closely with the Toddler Lead Teacher to support a calm, engaging classroom where children can explore, learn, and grow.

The Toddler Assistant supports the daily operation of the classroom and helps guide children through routines, activities, and learning experiences. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with young children and who may wish to pursue Montessori training in the future.

This role may be structured as a half-day classroom position
, or combined with our aftercare program to create a full-day position.

• Support the Toddler Lead Teacher in maintaining a calm and engaging classroom environment
• Assist with daily routines including snack time, changing diapers, toileting, and transitions
• Help guide children in practical life activities and early learning experiences
• Observe children and support their social and emotional development
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom
• Communicate respectfully with colleagues as part of a supportive school community

The ideal candidate will:

• Enjoy working with toddlers and supporting their early development
• Be patient, warm, and attentive to the needs of young children
• Be physically active and able to move easily throughout the classroom and outdoor environments
• Be comfortable assisting with diapering and other toddler care routines
• Be dependable, collaborative, and committed to contributing long term to the school community
• Have an interest in Montessori education (training is welcomed but not required)

Candidates with Montessori experience or those interested in pursuing Montessori training in the future are particularly encouraged to apply.

• Half-Day Position: Morning classroom support during the school day (8:30 till 12:30pm)
• Full-Day Position: Morning classroom support combined with afternoon aftercare supervision (8:15 till 4:15pm)

The school year runs from the end of August through June, with optional opportunities to work in the school’s summer program.

Compensation

• Half-day position: approximately $16,000 per school year
• Full-day position: approximately $28,000 per school year

Compensation may vary depending on experience and role structure.
