Job Description

AVON PUBLIC SCHOOLS

For External Applicants applying for a position. Position Title: Pre-K Teacher

Qualifications: Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification that covers Pre-K (112, 113). College or university degree with a concentration in early childhood education.

Reports to: Building Principal and/or designee

Compensation: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

Assignment Period:  School Year assignment.

Start date:

August 18, 2026

Responsibilities
  • Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public School's curriculum, particularly the Pre-K disciplines.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and educational projects to ensure students’ academic development.
  • Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s).
  • Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts.
  • Case management for students on IEPs and 504 plans.
  • Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
