About the Role
We are looking for a hands‑on Manufacturing Technician for the Cable Manufacturing Department’s 2nd shift in Avon, CT. The role involves cutting‑edge technology, troubleshooting, and teamwork.
Responsibilities- Set‑up, operation, and monitoring of cable production processes, including extrusion, braiding, stranding, re‑spooling, bobbin winding, and cable packaging.
- Verify product and process quality, monitor material levels, geometries, spool wind, and surface print quality during production runs.
- Review work orders, materials, specifications, and process requirements; test and inspect cables to ensure compliance with drawings, procedures, and order notes.
- Follow Lightera Personnel Policies, Safety Procedures, ISO guidelines, and chemical handling protocols; report safety concerns promptly.
- Support process engineering in developing and documenting new or revised process conditions; coordinate equipment and process problem resolution to minimize downtime and maximize yield.
- Maintain a clean work area (6S) and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist other departments or operators as needed to meet business requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education or technical training preferred.
- 1–3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in extrusion or optical fiber cable.
- Technical or mechanical background or strong interest.
- Basic computer skills. Must read and convey work instructions and drawings accurately.
- Good math skills, including fractions, decimals, metrics, formulas, and simple calculations.
- Willing and able to train and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
