Salary Range: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour; shift differential $2.00 depending on experience.
Job SummaryThe Technician is responsible for the manufacturing of micro‑prism films. The Manufacturing Films Technician I manages material flow on the equipment, monitors operation, makes operating adjustments as required, and verifies product quality and equipment operating conditions to assure conformance to specifications. The Technician follows all required ISO documentation, maintains area housekeeping, follows proper safety procedures, and recommends changes to enhance equipment performance and improve safety.
EssentialFunctions
- Operate and maintain all ORAFOL manufacturing equipment safely.
- Operate and inspect powered industrial equipment as required.
- Produce quality‑compliant films by operating equipment and performing all functions.
- Wear required personal protection equipment.
- Perform all required quality checks on runs.
- Remove and inspect tooling as needed.
- Monitor and record pressure and range values.
- Load film on and off machines.
- Slit material to appropriate widths and lengths.
- Set up and perform splices.
- Complete all roll documentation.
- Process work orders using the Enterprise System.
- Print and verify work‑in‑progress labels.
- Follow all standardized procedures while operating machines.
- Comply with OSHA regulations.
- Proactively detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor.
- Handle hazardous waste communication and handling.
- Understand safety data sheet documentation.
- Retrieve chemicals from the Chemical Mix Room as required.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of process/product variations and/or equipment‑related issues.
- Communicate effectively during shift change to supervisors and other operators.
- Enter requests in the Computer Maintenance Management System.
- Support and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Take preventive measures and perform equipment cleaning tasks.
- Maintain documentation of all required machine reports.
- Maintain an optimal level of product quality and adhere to ORAFOL’s Quality Program.
- Attend all required training sessions.
- Participate in communication meetings.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Work well as a team member to exceed ORCT Films ORAFOL’s goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
During day‑to‑day production operations, Technicians generate hazardous wastes—including ignitable solvents, solvent wipers and debris, used oil, non‑hazardous resins, and non‑hazardous solids. Technicians manage satellite storage of these wastes, verify container compatibility and sealing, ensure compliance with DOT approvals, label containers properly, and attend annual hazardous waste training required by 40
CFR
262.34(a)(4). Technicians must keep accumulation areas at or near the point of generation, monitor quantity limits, record addition dates, transfer waste containers to the storage area within three days, remove pour‑off funnels, seal containers with U.N. approved closures, and use proper handling equipment to prevent releases. In the event of a release, Technicians must isolate the area, warn others, and notify emergency coordinators.
They may only respond to incidental releases as defined by OSHA in 29
CFR. Mandated safety guidelines follow the ORAFOL Americas Safety program and required PPE.
- Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma required.
- Read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
- Competent with Microsoft Office products.
- Work Experience:
- 0–1 years of manufacturing experience.
- Aptitudes & Characteristics:
- High attention to detail, care, and caution to surroundings, especially when involved in high‑risk duties.
- Positive can‑do attitude and sense of accountability.
