Job Functions:
The Community Preschool Lead Instructor is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program in alignment with the community preschool's mission and values. This role includes curriculum planning, classroom management, family engagement, supervision of assistant staff, and ensuring compliance with state licensing regulations.
Salary Lane:
Hourly pay starting at $24.00.
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
Assigned Workday Calendar: 185 days (School Year Days)
Job Status:
Full-Time - 40 Hours per Week
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:45am - 4:15pm

Qualifications:
* Education:
Minimum of Child Development Associates (CDA) or equivalent amount of college credit plus 3 years of relevant experience.
* Certification:
None is required, but Indiana teaching license is preferred.
* Experience:
3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
* Skills and Knowledge:
Strong human relations skills, including professional tact, diplomacy, and presentation. Ability to multi-task and strong organization skills. Understanding of developmental milestones for 35-year-old children. Able to work collaboratively and communicate with a wide range of students, parents, staff and administration.
* Other:
Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.
Essential Functions:
* Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
* Utilize the Indiana Early Learning Foundations to prepare lesson plans to have a balance of academic and guided discovery experiences.
* Evaluate student performance utilizing rubrics, anecdotal notes and observations. Also collect and analyze data on individual students as needed. Report progress to parents on a scheduled basis.
* Develop community partnerships to prove experiences for students.
* Collaborate and plan with Community and Developmental Preschool staff to create an inclusive environment for students.
* Provide for individual academic and behavioral needs.
* Communicate with and utilize assistants in the classroom for student learning.
* Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of subject matter.
* Use positive behavior supports both within the classroom and throughout the school.
* Utilize a program to teach social skills to students on a consistent basis.
* Exhibit classroom organization.
* Complete and maintain records or forms as required.
* Follow policies and procedures of the school and school corporation:
* Attend school functions as required.
* Fulfill duty assignments conscientiously.
* Communicate with parents in a courteous and tactful manner.
* Develop rapport with students.
* Maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
* Strive for professional self-improvement and skill development.

* Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students, colleagues, parents and community members.
* Project a genuine care and concern for all students.
* Use and encourage creative decisions and solutions regarding conflict and challenging situations.
* Ensure all student information is kept confidential.
* Comply with all Avon Community School Corporation policies, guidelines, procedures and protocols.
* Participate in professional development, as assigned.
* Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
