The Sanitation Technician supports the company’s sanitation food safety program by ensuring proper cleaning and sanitizing of plant equipment and building areas in compliance with food safety policies, FDA, and OSHA regulations.

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment through routine equipment maintenance, sanitation procedures, and regulatory compliance.

• Perform basic wash area duties, including operating a pan washer and hand-cleaning utensils as needed.
• Disassemble and reassemble machinery for cleaning (e.g., covers, piping, electrical covers with plastic).
• Complete cleaning tasks according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
• Identify and address equipment requiring deep cleaning.
• Use chemicals safely and effectively for cleaning tasks.
• Carry out basic janitorial duties, such as emptying trash, sweeping, stocking supplies, and cleaning restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• Report safety, food safety, and quality concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Comply with all employee safety and food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other assigned tasks as needed.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience cleaning equipment/machines in a food plant preferred.
• Basic knowledge of pre-rinse, wash, rinse, and sanitize steps.
• Basic knowledge of top-down wash sequence for food safety.
• Basic knowledge of sanitation chemical usage.
• Basic knowledge of lockout/tagout programs.
• Comfortable working at heights involving ladders and scissor-lifts.
• Ability to learn cleaning procedures for all plant lines.
• Ability to prioritize work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Regular and predictable attendance; available to work weekends.
