Role Description The Maintenance Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Avon, IN, responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of school facilities. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and completing repairs on mechanical, electrical, and building systems. The role involves responding to maintenance requests, inspecting equipment and infrastructure, and assisting with seasonal work such as HVAC checks, snow removal, or grounds upkeep as needed.

The Maintenance Technician collaborates with other facilities staff, follows safety procedures and district guidelines, and maintains accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform Equipment Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair on building, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills for identifying, diagnosing, and resolving facility and equipment issues.
  • Experience with Preventive Maintenance practices to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Background in Industrial Maintenance or similar environments, preferably in schools or public facilities.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry is preferred.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely, and to read manuals, diagrams, and work orders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training is a plus.
  • Capacity to lift moderate weights, stand or walk for extended periods, and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undergo any required background checks in accordance with school district policies.
