Assistant ControllerJob Summary:
The Assistant Controller will assist in the day-to-day activities of the accounting department and support the Controller in meeting the daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities of Finance / Accounting.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Analyze income statement and balance sheet movement and prepare daily activity reports.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable processing and makes decisions as processing questions arise.
- Acts as a back-up to the Accounts Receivable team for the daily cash reconciliation process and interacts with bank account team as needed.
- Prepare and post journal entries for the monthly close.
- Perform and review bank, credit card, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation for accounting transactions.
- Assist with annual financial statement audits and other external audits.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Assist with state sales tax filings and related financial information.
- Work with sales team to provide and obtain sales and purchasing data to complete related accounting tasks and reporting.
- Maintain and manage customer rebate programs for sales department.
- Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as required from time to time – quite often on short notice.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial, employee, customer, and company information.
- Inspire the company mission and create a collaborative team culture.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and effectively manage accounting team members
- Assist with training and development of accounting team members.
- Recruit, hire, and retain team members.
- Regularly provide performance feedback to team members to ensure process improvement and continuous learning.
- Hold team members accountable to their job duties & code of conduct.

Required Skills/Abilities:- Experience working with Oracle ERP/financial systems, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
- Proficiency navigating Oracle to review financial data, perform account reconciliations, research discrepancies, and support accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze financial data and utilize spreadsheets for reporting and accounting functions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and effectively manage accounting team members.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and occasionally stressful environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus.
- Five years of prior general accounting or public accounting experience.
- Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
- A team player that understands how to work effectively in a fast paced, evolving organization.
- Conduct duties and responsibilities in a moral, honest and ethical manner.
