Controller, Management, Financial Compliance

Hunter Recruiting is seeking a highly accomplished Controller to plan and direct the accounting operations of the company. This is an internal role and a member of Hunter's leadership team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, diligent, tactful, and organized.

• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement and continually monitor a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Recommend benchmarks that measure the company’s performance.
• Direct and monitor the activities and performance of the workers' compensation program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Produce the annual budget/forecasts and report significant budget differences to management.
• Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations, in collaboration with COO.
• Work with external vendors and provide needed information for audits.
• Monitor retirement plans and review annual 5500s.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

• Oversee Bookkeepers, Accounting Assistants, Accounting Specialists, Senior Accounting Specialists, and Assistant Controller.
• Oversee HR staff, including HR Manager, Generalist or administrative personnel.
• Interview, hire and train new staff.
• Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
• Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• 10+ years of related experience required.
