Our client is seeking a Project Engineer to support a top federal construction sub-contractor specializing in large-scale design-build projects. This individual will support the Project team in overseeing complex, high-dollar projects from planning through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects supporting national security initiatives in AZ
- Support daily project execution activities for large federal design-build construction projects, ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, and contract requirements
- Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining detailed project schedules in MS Project; track progress and flag potential delays
- Support cost management efforts, including tracking project costs, assisting with forecasting, and maintaining accurate financial documentation
- Coordinate closely with superintendents, subcontractors, field teams, and federal stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and workflow
- Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation to maintain compliance and proper recordkeeping
- Perform drawing reviews and prepare markups using Bluebeam to support design coordination and issue resolution
- Help ensure project compliance with federal regulations, safety standards, and quality control requirements
- Assist with estimating and preconstruction efforts, including quantity takeoffs and data input using Heavy Bid/Heavy Job
- Support project lifecycle activities from preconstruction through closeout, including closeout documentation and turnover packages
- Proactively identify project issues and support the PM in developing solutions to maintain project performance
- 2-5+ years of experience working in construction
- Experience working with a General Contractor or an Electrical, Civil, Steel, Mechanical, or Structural Subcontractor, or within construction in the military
- Federal construction project experience: CBP, USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, DHS, AF, city/state, municipal construction
- Proficiency with MS Project (scheduling), bluebeam, or heavybid/heavyjob
- Design-Build project experience
- Experience supporting border, security, or infrastructure projects
