The City of Avondale is accepting applications for the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Summer Camp 2026 Season.
The Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department is accepting applications for Recreation Assistants and Recreation Specialists to help lead fun, safe, and engaging summer camp programs. As part of the team, you will organize and oversee activities, instruct participants, and ensure a positive camp experience.
Recreation AssistantsFocus on day-to-day camp operations, supervising activities, assisting with special events, and maintaining a safe environment.
Recreation SpecialistsLead, helping develop and implement camp programs, supporting staff and volunteers, and ensuring overall program success.
Both positions require strong customer service skills, facility upkeep, and adherence to City safety policies.

The schedule varies by program needs, from Monday to Friday, between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM. These positions are non-benefited temporary positions.

Recreation Specialist (Summer Camp) - $20.33This role involves assisting in developing and implementing a diverse summer camp program while evaluating its effectiveness. The role leads the summer camp operation and supports special events as needed, including organizing and assessing summer camp activities at the Mountain View Community Center. Additionally, it includes supporting staff, instructors, and volunteers. Responsibilities also entail conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance with City safety policies and procedures, performing general facility cleanup, and providing excellent customer service to summer camp participants.
Minimum Qualifications- A High School Diploma or equivalency is required.
- One (1) year of relevant part‑time recreation program experience or related work experience.
- A valid Arizona Driver's License is required.
This role involves organizing and managing various aspects of the summer camp. Responsibilities include instructing participants in different camp programs, activities, and events. Additionally, you will assist with special events as needed. You will be required to complete and submit reports for any accidents, incidents, or behavioral issues that arise. Conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance with City safety policies and procedures is also part of the job.
General cleanup of facilities is expected, along with providing excellent customer service to summer camp participants.
