Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Theatre Residential Faculty. This position will teach courses each academic year in areas such as scenic design, technical theatre, acting, directing, and related areas aligned with the candidate's expertise. The faculty member will facilitate student productions and work with students outside the classroom on instructional activities, projects, and productions, playing a key role in developing, growing, and providing leadership within the theatre and production program.
This position will begin in August 2026.
- Instruction
:
Teach a variety of in‑person and hybrid theatre and production classes, engage students with diverse backgrounds, use varied assessment methods, maintain office hours, and provide student‑centered guidance. - Program Leadership & Development
- Develop and grow the theatre and production programs.
- Provide leadership for theatre programs and activities.
- Build relationships with high‑school and university institutions to promote transfer pathways.
- Develop internship and practical application experiences with local community, business, and industry partners.
- Serve as Production Manager, coordinating production logistics.
- Collaborate with the Performing Arts Center, Outreach and Advising, Student Life, and other departments.
- Serve on college and district committees, including the Theatre Instructional Council.
- Course Development
- Design and develop course materials, curricula, and syllabi that support student growth.
- Incorporate feedback and current practices to align content with student needs.
- Evolve curriculum and programs to align with industry and community needs.
- Provide experiential learning opportunities and practical applications.
- Faculty Professional Service
- Collaborate with division members and other college employees to improve student learning.
- Serve on campus and/or district committees to advance EMCC’s mission.
- Contribute to an inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
- Professional Development
:
Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in subject knowledge and pedagogical practices. - Campus Presence
- Participate in campus and district events and foster a supportive climate.
- Oversee student productions, requiring evening and weekend work for rehearsals and performances.
- Graduate degree required. Candidate may qualify with:
- Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field.
- Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching field.
May be required to work evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances; may require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
