Position: Instructional Coach- 4 Day School Week 2026-2027

Instructional Coach

General statement of responsibilities:
Provides the knowledge, skill, and training required to assist each assigned teacher to meet or exceed proficiency in teaching standards and improve classroom student learning. The instructional coach collaborates with the school principal in planning and implementing action plan activities to support school academic achievement goals. The instructional coach serves as an instructional liaison between the school and Educational Services.

Qualifications & experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field. Master's degree (preferred). Reading endorsement (preferred). Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience (multiple grade levels preferred). Evidence of highly effective performance level on most recent teacher evaluation (preferred). Evidence of classroom student achievement growth of more than one year (preferred). Experience in one or more teacher leader roles demonstrating responsibility for grade-level team or content vertical team school improvement efforts.

Valid Arizona teaching certificate. Valid fingerprint clearance card. Experience working with linguistically and ethnically diverse students. Deep knowledge of literacy development or other content area, current scientifically-based reading research, the Arizona College and Career Ready Standards, and assessment practices. Experience in data analysis and using data to inform instruction. Experience working with adult learners. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Effective organizational and time management skills.

Effective presentation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with students, staff and parents. Evidence of ability to use technology effectively.

Responsibilities & duties:
Establish and maintain trusting relationships that enhance the school culture and promote risk taking and collaboration among teachers and staff. Develop a positive working relationship with teachers, school site personnel, and district personnel. Guide teachers to systematically identify patterns and relationships in student learning data, teacher content knowledge, and teacher actions to improve teacher effectiveness. Assist teachers in disaggregating and analyzing data about student achievement and designing differentiated lessons and effective student learning interventions.

Support teachers in successfully implementing state content standards and district curriculum. Design and adjust systems of coaching support for assigned teachers. Assist teachers with implementation of his/her educator goal plans for improved teacher effectiveness and increased student achievement. Collaborate with teachers to develop school grade-level team common formative assessments. Assist teacher in aligning record keeping to lesson planning to monitor student progress of taught curriculum standards.

Provide job-embedded, research-driven, team-based, differentiated, results-based professional development aligned to the school continuous improvement plan. Plan and facilitate assigned teacher induction workshops. Plan and facilitate assigned district-wide professional development workshops. Collaborate with the Educational Services team in supporting the needs of probationary teachers. Collaborate with the Educational Services team in facilitating solution team support to targeted grade level or specific teachers in the assigned school.

Assist in developing and revising district curriculum and instruction resources. Collaboratively and productively participate on the school leadership team to support school improvement goals in alignment with district improvement goals. Maintain accurate records and supporting data for coaching cycle plans, schedules, and teacher progress toward goals. Serve as the school assessment coordinator. Provide reading intervention services to designated students. Other duties as assigned.

Language skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with staff, students, and community members.

Reasoning ability:
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to address problems involving several variables in a multitude of situations.
