Job Description

The Assistant Principal of Athletics and Operations manages and administers the school's athletic programs, oversees campus operations and facilities, supervises student activities and staff, monitors student discipline and attendance, and evaluates teaching performance for its assigned curriculum area. The role supports the site principal, enhances school culture, and participates in the development and evaluation of the district’s educational program.

Qualifications Required
  • Valid Arizona teaching and principal certificate.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience at the secondary level.
  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience.
  • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Print Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Expertise in curriculum and instructional strategies, student assessment, and instructional technology.
  • Demonstrated instructional leadership and ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of district policies, procedures, and best practices for dropout intervention.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and make sound judgment.
Preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years coaching experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Essential Functions
  • Report directly to the campus principal.
  • Assist the principal in overall school administration and act as principal in his absence.
  • Administer and maintain discipline and student behavior.
  • Support the implementation of district instructional programs and guidelines.
  • Oversee personnel management, including hiring, interviewing, and evaluating teachers and classified staff.
  • Coordinate summer school, textbook selection, and budget preparation for assigned curriculum areas.
  • Participate in student support teams, 504 planning, and IEP processes.
  • Monitor academic achievement and recommend interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and manage school plant and facility operations.
  • Implement attendance, scheduling, grading, and data management systems.
  • Develop and enforce school and district policies, conduct safety inspections, and plan drills.
  • Lead community relations, change and revitalization projects, and professional development for staff.
  • Supervise campus athletic events, oversee the athletic budget, hire and evaluate coaches, and manage equipment and transportation.
  • Oversee campus operations and facilities, coordinate maintenance, conduct safety inspections, and manage capital projects.
  • Assist with bookstore operations, yearbook, and fundraising events.
  • Manage textbooks, instructional materials inventory, and signage for school events.
  • Assist in extracurricular supervision and early intervention programs.
  • Perform related duties to ensure efficient functioning of the school unit.

Skills: Proficient use of standard office equipment and educational software; project and time management; record keeping; confidential information handling; effective communication; personnel and program management; collaborative teamwork.

Knowledge: Classroom management, curriculum design, educational technology, curriculum software, federal, state, and local codes, athletics, coaching, and competition regulations, student government and clubs.

Abilities: Schedule and coordinate activities; gather and analyze data; apply judgment and ethical standards; meet deadlines; maintain professionalism; resolve problems with independent insight; collaborate across diverse groups; promote integrity and team building.
