Sign-on Compensation: after 90 days of employment.

General Description

Under the direction of the special education teacher, the behavior coach will provide assistance to children who are in a special education program.

Qualifications
  • Experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disabled/disordered students in a school, mental health, or hospital setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development concepts and practices.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card.
  • Must be able to pass a background check upon employment.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (offered at the district).
  • First Aid and CPR training certification (offered at the district).
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work intensively with students who have been unable to function effectively in the classroom and immediately address individual student behavioral/emotional problems.
  • Communicate reality-based problem-solving techniques to students.
  • Maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
  • Maintain First Aid and CPR training certification.
  • Assist in developing and administering educational programs for behaviorally/emotionally and/or academically challenged students.
  • Assist teachers in the classroom by interacting with students who are disruptive, off task, or exhibiting other emotional needs, which interfere with the student's progress within the classroom.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of various logs, reports, files, reviews, etc.
  • Escort children to the bus, time-out, the nurse's office, and across campus.
  • Facilitate decision-making and communication between students and teachers.
  • Follow District Policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$16.49 - $20.02 per hour (dependent upon years of experience)
